Ballerstedt GmbH specialises in the manufacture of high-quality plastic injection-moulded parts and offers comprehensive support, from the initial concept to the finished product. We’re innovative in our design process, have our own mould production facility, are experts in development, project work and series production for injection-moulded parts, and serve all sectors which have high demands in terms of form and function. With more than 30 injection moulding machines, we can process thermoplastics of any kind. We introduced a quality management system in 1998 to ensure the quality of our products. Initially based on the DIN EN ISO 9001:1994 standard, this system now conforms with the current DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 standard, which is certified by SGS-TÜV Saar.
We have 32 modern injection moulding machines with clamping forces ranging from 250 to 7,000 kN and injection weights up to 2.2 kg, which allows us to process any and all thermoplastics. We also have special machines to accommodate a whole host of requirements: a rotary table machine which can be used to efficiently process inserts of all kinds as well as a two-component injection moulding machine for two colours and hard/soft applications.
Parts are transferred to our assembly department for finishing, which also includes assembly production. Here we carry out a variety of operations such as flat and rotary screen printing, hot stamping, ultrasonic welding and filling parts with foam using the PUR process.
SEE MOREWe design the finished parts and tools using VISI Mould and can read and output all standard data formats.
We can produce tools up to 600 x 500 mm in size at our toolmaking facility using our two CNC machining centres, two electrical discharge machines and one milling machine, CNC lathe and surface grinder. We can also plan a large number of tools at the same time, thanks to a long-standing proven network of external toolmakers.

Initially based on the DIN EN ISO 9001:1994 standard, this system now conforms with the current DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 standard, which is certified by SGS-TÜV Saar. Our product portfolio includes parts that meet the standards in the automotive industry as well as medical parts that fulfil FDA requirements. The inspection process can even be optimised for simple parts to keep QM costs low.
SEE MOREWhilst our expertise in plastics is plain to see in many areas, it’s most notable in our extensive range of products. In addition to conventional plastics, we can also process all thermoplastics such as PVC, PEEK and PSU into high-precision, functional parts for machines and other technical systems.
We manufacture your products in accordance with the highest technical standards and ISO 9001:2015.

We now have more than 60 employees in Reinbek-Glinde, an industrial area on the outskirts of Hamburg, each of whom contributes to our success: with expertise and personal commitment, our employees ensure the satisfaction of our customers.
In 1962 Peter Ballerstedt founded a small plastic-processing company in Hamburg’s Barmbek district. The one-man operation developed into a modern medium-sized company over the years and was converted to a company with limited liability (GmbH) in 1989. With the move to its own new building in the same year, the plastic-processing company Ballerstedt GmbH had found the ideal location.
Our owner-managed family business offers maximum flexibility and can fulfil just about any of our customers’ product requests.
As a reliable service provider with many years of experience, we can offer ideas, prototypes and series products for a whole host of sectors. Our in-house design, toolmaking, production and assembly are your guarantee for maximum flexibility and quality.
Take advantage of the precision work of our specialists.
1962 to present: explore the history of Ballerstedt, the plastic-processing company, which has continued to develop since it was founded by Peter Ballerstedt. This timeline shows the most important milestones.
The history of Ballerstedt GmbH in chronological order
Completion of the new, modern 1,000 m2 warehouse
Our new warehouse is successfully inaugurated. The facility extends all the way to the property next door, which had been acquired in 2012. By retiring the old warehouse, we’re able to expand production space yet again.
Purchase of the Gutenbergstrasse 32 property
A building next door is purchased along with the property, and renovated to add some much-needed warehouse and production space.
Markus Ballerstedt appointed Managing Director
After 37 years as Managing Director, Peter Ballerstedt hands over the reins to his son Markus. Markus Ballerstedt, qualified toolmaker and plastics engineer, has continued to develop the company with great success ever since.
Acquisition of the injection moulding department of the Kunststoff-Krüger company
The acquisition of the injection moulding department of the Arthur Krüger company in Barsbüttel promotes further growth and brings in new customers.
Building expanded by 1,500 m2
The building in Gutenbergstrasse is expanded by approximately 1,500 m2. Markus Ballerstedt, qualified toolmaker and plastics engineer, joins the company in 1993.
Construction of the factory building at Gutenbergstrasse 34
The new building in Gutenbergstrasse in Reinbek is completed at the end of 1990. Now with 2,000 m2 of production and storage space and 150 m2 of office space, the business is converted to a company with limited liability (GmbH): PB Kunststoffverarbeitung Ballerstedt GmbH.
Acquisition of the Moltrecht & Enterlein company in Reinbek
The company acquires competitor Moltrecht & Enterlein in Reinbek, thus doubling its annual sales and expanding its range to include new technical items for discerning industrial customers. The result is new exciting and demanding tasks for the now more than 20 employees of Ballerstedt GmbH. The company headquarters are relocated from Hamburg to Reinbek.
Fire in Steilshooper Strasse
In June 1977, a pallet containing PVC granules catches fire due to carelessness during some welding work and the fire spreads throughout the company building. The hydrochloric acid inside the PVC causes all the machines and tools to rust within a very short period of time, and even the iron structure of the roof is severely damaged and cannot be salvaged. Operations resume again eight weeks later after extensive renovation and clean-up.
Peter Ballerstedt founds the Ballerstedt company
In 1962 Peter Ballerstedt founds a small plastic-processing company in Hamburg’s Barmbek district. He purchases his first injection moulding machine for DM 4,000 and installs it in the storage space of his father’s company, Hans D. Ballerstedt. Before long, he is able to deliver and invoice his first order for 50,000 rosettes for bannisters and discovers other companies in Hamburg in need of rosettes for staircase construction. The portfolio is soon expanded with the manufacture of moulds for spacers and sealing washers.
Collaboration with the Gottwald company in Bremen, a wholesaler of rosettes and corrugated light-transmitting panels, promotes further growth. Having outgrown the space in Bramfelder Strasse, the company rents a larger facility and office spaces in nearby Steilshooper Strasse.
